Your loan transfer, step by step.

Your Notice of Servicing Transfer arrives by email at least 15 days before your loan moves. Here’s what it tells you, where to find it in the JMAC portal and what to do next.

What to expect.

The transfer date, online account availability and payment due date can be different.

  1. Watch for your Notice of Servicing Transfer.

It arrives by email at least 15 days before your loan transfers. It names the company that will collect your payments, where to send them and your new loan number.

  2. See your transfer in the JMAC portal.

The portal’s Make a Payment page is replaced with your transfer details: your new servicer, the date it starts collecting your payments and your new loan number. A PDF of your notice is under Documents.

  3. Set up your account and payments with your new servicer.

Register using its welcome instructions and your new loan number. If a payment is due before you can log in, contact the new servicer for instructions.

When will I get my transfer notice?

You can also download a PDF copy from the Documents tab in the JMAC portal, where it’s listed as a Goodbye Letter.

I already sent my payment. What should I do?

If you sent a payment to JMAC that was due to your new servicer, JMAC will forward it to your new servicer. Keep your payment confirmation, and contact our servicing team if you’d like to confirm the payment’s status or when it was forwarded.

Why did my loan number change?

Your new servicer gives your loan a new number, shown in your notice and on the JMAC portal’s Make a Payment page. Use it whenever you contact or pay your new servicer. The new number doesn’t change your loan terms or payment schedule.

The new portal can’t find my loan yet.

The transfer date and the date online access becomes available may be different. Check your welcome instructions for account setup information and your new loan number. If you cannot register, contact the new servicer. If your payment is due before you can get access, ask for payment instructions rather than waiting for the portal to become available.

I haven’t received a welcome letter or new loan number.

Check the JMAC portal: once your loan is transferring, its Make a Payment page shows your new servicer and new loan number, and your notice is under Documents. Contact the new servicer for its welcome letter and account setup instructions. If you cannot find the information or are unsure who to contact, JMAC Servicing can help identify the next step.

Does a transfer change my loan terms?

A servicing transfer itself does not change your contractual loan terms. Your payment amount can still change for reasons allowed under your loan, such as an escrow adjustment or a scheduled adjustable-rate change. Review any separate notices about those changes and ask your servicer about an amount you do not recognize.

What if an on-time payment goes to my previous servicer?

For mortgages covered by the federal servicing-transfer rule, a payment received on time by the previous servicer, including within any applicable grace period, cannot be treated as late during the 60 days after the transfer. This does not extend your payment due date or mean you can skip a payment. Keep your confirmation and contact servicing if a payment is missing or shown as late.
